Śākadvīpa–Pramāṇa–Varṇana
Measurements and Description of Śākadvīpa
The verse affirms Bhārata as a sacred cultural space sustained by an ancient, meritorious tradition; ethical life (dharma) is framed as continuity with what the elders established and transmitted through hearing and remembrance.
Sanjaya addresses Dhṛtarāṣṭra, situating the account within Bhārata-varṣa and reminding him that he has already heard the full, ancient sacred tradition—serving as a contextual bridge before continuing the war narrative.
