Bhīṣma’s Fall, the Arrow-bed (śara-talpa), and the Establishment of Guard

विधुन्वानो नरश्रेष्ठो द्रावयाणो वरूथिनीम्‌ । पृतनां पाण्डवेयानां गाहमाना महाबल:

vidhunvāno naraśreṣṭho drāvayāṇo varūthinīm | pṛtanāṃ pāṇḍaveyānāṃ gāhamāno mahābalaḥ ||

Wika ni Sañjaya: Ang pinakamainam sa mga tao, na may dakilang lakas, ay yumanig sa hanay ng kaaway at pinatakas ang kanilang ayos-pandigma, saka sumuong nang malalim sa hukbo ng mga Pāṇḍava. Itinatampok ng taludtod ang mabangis na sigla ng isang makapangyarihang mandirigma sa digmaan—kung saan ang tapang at lakas ay nakapapangalat ng pormasyon—at palihim na nagpapaalaala na ang gayong giting, bagama’t nakasisilaw, ay kumikilos pa rin sa loob ng mas malawak na kaayusang moral at itinadhanang daloy ng labanan sa Kurukṣetra.
