भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः
Arjuna and Bhima’s pressure; escalation toward Bhishma
गत्वा शान्तनवं वृद्ध मन्त्र पृष्छाम भारत । स वो दास्यति मन्त्र यं तेन योत्स्यामहे परान्,“विशेषत: आपके पूछनेपर वे अवश्य सच्ची बात बतायेंगे। अतः हम सब लोग मिलकर कुरुकुलके वृद्ध पितामह शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मसे अभीष्ट प्रश्न पूछनेके लिये साथ-साथ वहाँ चलें और भारत! चलकर उनसे हितकारक मन्त्रणा पूछें। वे आपको ऐसी मन्त्रणा देंगे, जिससे हमलोग शत्रुओंके साथ युद्ध करेंगे
gatvā śāntanavaṁ vṛddha-mantraṁ pṛcchāma bhārata | sa vo dāsyati mantraṁ yaṁ tena yotsyāmahe parān ||
Wika ni Sañjaya: “Humayo tayo, O Bharata, at sumangguni sa matandang Śāntanava, ang dakilang ninuno. Ibibigay niya sa iyo ang payong hinahanap mo; at sa payong iyon ay makikidigma tayo laban sa ating mga kaaway.”
