भीष्मस्य शरवर्षः — Bhīṣma’s Arrow-Storm and Kṛṣṇa’s Impulse to Intervene
ततोडन्न्योन्यं प्रधावन्तः सम्प्रहारं प्रचक्रिरे । ततः: शब्देन महता प्रचकम्पे वसुन्धरा,दोनों पक्षके योद्धा एक-दूसरेपर धावा करते हुए अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंका प्रहार करने लगे। उस समय जो महान् कोलाहल हुआ, उससे सारी पृथ्वी काँपने लगी
tato ’nyonyaṁ pradhāvantaḥ samprahāraṁ pracakrire | tataḥ śabdena mahatā pracakampe vasundharā ||
Wika ni Sañjaya: “Pagkaraan, nagsalpukan ang mga mandirigma, sumugod sa isa’t isa at nagsimulang magpalitan ng mababangis na hampas ng sandata. Sa napakalakas na ugong na sumiklab, wari’y nanginig ang lupa.”
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the gravity of collective violence: when warriors rush into mutual slaughter, the resulting upheaval is portrayed as world-shaking. It frames war as an event with moral and cosmic weight, not merely a tactical contest.
Sañjaya describes the two armies surging toward each other and beginning intense hand-to-hand and weapon combat. The din of the clash becomes so immense that it is said to make the earth tremble.
