Bhārata-varṣa-varṇana
Description of Bhārata: Mountains, Rivers, and Janapadas
The verse situates human life within a moral-cosmic framework of yugas, indicating that human longevity diminishes across ages; it implies a corresponding decline in worldly conditions and the ease of sustaining dharma.
Sañjaya addresses the king as he describes characteristics of the ages (yugas), specifically stating the human lifespan in Tretā and in the presently prevailing Dvāpara.
