Completion of the Aśvamedha
सनातनस्य धर्मस्य मूलमेतत् सनातनम् | श्रूयन्ते हि पुरा वृत्ता विश्वामित्रादयो नृपा:,यही धर्म है, यही महान् योग है, दान, प्राणियोंपर दया, ब्रह्मचर्य, सत्य, करुणा, धृति और क्षमा--ये सनातन धर्मके सनातन मूल हैं। सुना जाता है कि पूर्वकालमें विश्वामित्र आदि नरेश इसीसे सिद्धिको प्राप्त हुए थे
sanātanasya dharmasya mūlam etat sanātanam | śrūyante hi purā vṛttā viśvāmitrādayo nṛpāḥ ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Ito ang walang hanggang ugat ng walang hanggang Dharma. Tunay ngang ayon sa sinaunang salaysay, naririnig na ang mga haring gaya ni Viśvāmitra at iba pa, sa pamumuhay ayon sa batayang ito, ay nagkamit ng kaganapan.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse asserts that Dharma has an eternal, unchanging foundation (mūla), and that adherence to this perennial basis is what leads to true spiritual accomplishment, as exemplified by revered figures of the past.
Vaiśampāyana, continuing his narration, points to ancient precedent: earlier rulers—named beginning with Viśvāmitra—are said to have achieved success by grounding their lives and rule in the timeless root-principles of Dharma.
