दारेष्वधीनो धर्मश्न॒ पितृणामात्मनस्तथा | “वह उज्ज्वल कीर्तिसे भ्रष्ट हो जाता है और उसे उत्तम लोकोंकी प्राप्ति नहीं होती। धर्म

dāreṣv adhīno dharmaś ca pitṝṇām ātmanaḥ tathā |

Sinabi ni Nakula na ang dharma ng isang lalaki ay nakasalalay sa kanyang asawa: sa pamamagitan niya napapanatili ang paglilingkod at wastong pag-aasikaso sa loob ng tahanan, ang pagpapatuloy at pag-iingat ng angkan, at ang maayos na pagsunod sa dharma, kāma, at artha. Maging ang mga tungkulin sa mga ninuno, gayundin ang sariling katayuang matuwid, ay nakasandig sa suporta ng asawa; kung hindi igagalang ang pag-asaing ito, mahuhulog ang tao mula sa maningning na dangal at hindi makaaabot sa mas matataas na daigdig.
