राजपूजाविधानम् / Royal Reception Protocols during Āśvamedha Preparations
एवमत्र महाराज दक्षिणां त्रिगुणां कुरु । त्रित्वं ब्रजतु ते राजन् ब्राह्मणा ह्वात्र कारणम्
evaṃ atra mahārāja dakṣiṇāṃ triguṇāṃ kuru | tritvaṃ brajatu te rājan brāhmaṇā hy atra kāraṇam ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Kaya nga, O dakilang hari, magbigay ka rito ng tatluhang dakṣiṇā (handog na bayad sa paghahain). O hari, nawa’y ang iisang paghahain mong ito ay umabot sa antas ng tatlong paghahain, sapagkat ang mga Brāhmaṇa ang tunay na pangunahing sanhi—ang mapagpasiyang tagapagganap—sa ritong ito.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse teaches that honoring the officiating Brāhmaṇas with generous dakṣiṇā is not merely transactional but ethically and ritually central: the efficacy and merit of a sacrifice depend on proper respect, support, and recompense to those who preserve and enact the Vedic rite.
Vaiśampāyana advises the king, within the context of a sacrificial performance, to give a threefold dakṣiṇā. He frames this generosity as elevating the single rite to the merit of three sacrifices, because the Brāhmaṇas are presented as the key agents enabling the yajña.
