Disclosure and Consolation
सहैव कृपभोजाभ्यां द्रौणिर्युद्धादमुच्यत । युयुत्सुश्चापि कौरव्यो मुक्त:पाण्डवसंश्रयात्
sahaiva kṛpabhojābhyāṃ drauṇir yuddād amucyata | yuyutsuś cāpi kauravyo muktaḥ pāṇḍavasaṃśrayāt ||
Wika ni Vāsudeva: “Kasama nina Kṛpa at Bhoja (Kṛtavarman), si Aśvatthāman, anak ni Droṇa, ay nakaligtas na buhay mula sa digmaan. At si Yuyutsu man—bagaman Kaurava sa kapanganakan—ay iniligtas sapagkat kumupkop siya sa mga Pāṇḍava.”
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights that in the aftermath of adharma-filled conflict, one’s fate can hinge on moral alignment and chosen refuge: Yuyutsu is spared not by birth-status as a Kaurava, but because he sought the Pāṇḍavas’ protection—implying that ethical choice and right association can outweigh mere lineage.
Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva) recounts who remained alive after the great war: Aśvatthāman survived along with Kṛpācārya and Kṛtavarman, and Yuyutsu—though a Kaurava—was saved because he had taken shelter with the Pāṇḍavas.
