यस्मिंस्ते कुण्डले बद्धे तदा द्विजवरेण वै । उस समय उनकी दृष्टि बेलोंपर ही लगी हुई थी (वे कहाँ गिरते हैं

yasmiṁs te kuṇḍale baddhe tadā dvijavareṇa vai |

Sinabi ni Vaiśaṃpāyana: “Noong sandaling iyon, ang brahmanang marangal ay itinali ang dalawang hikaw sa balat ng usa. Sa mga baging lamang nakatuon ang kanyang paningin; hindi niya inintindi kung saan bumabagsak ang mga naputol na baging. Kaya’t halos lahat ng baging na kanyang pinutol ay bumagsak sa mismong balat ng usa na pinagtalian ng dalawang hikaw.”
