Uttanka’s Guru-Śuśrūṣā and the Commission to Retrieve the Maṇikuṇḍalas

Do not judge worth by outward appearance or social markers; a grave ethical lapse occurs when one rejects a worthy being (even a deity) based on form. Dharma requires discernment, restraint, and readiness to correct one’s mistake through renewed right effort.
Uttanka points out that Indra appeared in the guise of a Caṇḍāla and that rejecting him was a serious offense. He then reassures the other party that he will attempt once more to do whatever he can to accomplish the desired aim.
