Mahabharata — Ashvamedhika Parva, Shloka 12

Uttanka’s Viśvarūpa Request and the ‘Uttanka Clouds’ Boon

Educational Q&A

Compassion toward all beings is presented as a supreme dharma, and the divine is said to ‘dwell with’ those who practice it by turning away from sinful actions; sustaining dharma may involve taking diverse forms suited to circumstances.

Vāyu addresses Bhārgava, explaining his affinity with the dharma of universal compassion and stating that he manifests across the three worlds in various forms and roles to protect and re-establish dharma among humans.
