स प्रयातो महाबाहु: समेषु मरुधन्वसु । ददर्शाथ मुनिश्रेष्ठमुत्तडकममितौजसम्‌,इस प्रकार मरुभूमिके समतल प्रदेशमें पहुँचकर महाबाहु श्रीकृष्णने अमिततेजस्वी मुनिश्रेष्ठ उत्तंकका दर्शन किया

vaiśampāyana uvāca | sa prayāto mahābāhuḥ sameṣu marudhanvasu | dadarśātha muniśreṣṭham uttaṅkam amitaujasam ||

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Sa pagpapatuloy ng paglalakbay, ang makapangyarihang may malalakas na bisig ay nakarating sa mga patag na bahagi ng ilang; doon niya nasilayan ang pinakadakila sa mga pantas—si Uttanka, isang rishi na may di-masukat na ningning na espirituwal. Itinatanghal ng tagpong ito ang isang pagtatagpo kung saan ang kapangyarihang panghari at ang pagkilos na banal ay nakikipag-usap sa awtoridad ng pag-aayuno at pagninilay, na nagpapaalala sa nakikinig na ang dharma ay luminaw hindi lamang sa larangan ng digmaan, kundi sa pakikipagtagpo rin sa mga pantas na nagsasalita ng katotohanan.
