Marutta–Indra Rivalry and Bṛhaspati’s Priestly Refusal (मरुत्तेन्द्रस्पर्धा—बृहस्पतेः पौरोहित्यनिश्चयः)
स्पर्थते स सम सततं देवराजेन नित्यदा । वासवो5पि मरुत्तेन स्पर्थते पाण्डुनन्दन,पाण्डुनन्दन! राजा मरुत्त सदा देवराज इन्द्रसे स्पर्धा रखते थे और इन्द्र भी मरुत्तके साथ स्पर्धा रखते थे
spardhate sa sama-satataṃ devarājena nityadā | vāsavo 'pi maruttena spardhate pāṇḍu-nandana pāṇḍu-nandana ||
Sinabi ni Vyāsa: “Ang Haring Marutta ay laging nakikipagpaligsahan sa hari ng mga diyos, si Indra; at si Indra (Vāsava) man ay patuloy ding nakikipagpaligsahan kay Marutta. O anak ni Pāṇḍu, ang kanilang pag-uunahang ito ay walang patid.”
