Arjuna–Vāsudeva framed dialogue
अव्यक्तबीजप्रभवो बुद्धिस्कन्धमयो महान् । महाहड्कारविटप इन्द्रियाड्कुरकोटर:
avyaktabījaprabhavo buddhiskandhamayo mahān | mahāhaṅkāraviṭapa indriyāṅkurakoṭaraḥ | chittvā cāmaratāṁ prāpya jahāti mṛtyujanmanī ||
Wika ni Vāyu: “Ang dakilang punongkahoy ng pag-iral na may katawan ay sumisibol mula sa di-nahahayag na binhi. Ang punò nito ay buddhi (talino), ang mga sanga ay ang dakilang ahaṅkāra (pagdama ng ‘ako’), at ang mga guwang ay ang mga pandama. Kapag tunay itong naunawaan at naputol sa pamamagitan ng napakahusay na tabak ng kaalaman, nakakamtan ang kawalang-kamatayan at naiiwan ang gapos ng kamatayan at muling pagsilang.”
वायुदेव उवाच
Embodied life is compared to a tree rooted in an unmanifest cause, structured by buddhi, ahaṅkāra, and the senses. Liberation comes when one understands this construction and ‘cuts’ attachment to it through discriminative knowledge, thereby transcending the cycle of birth and death.
Vāyudeva is instructing the listener with a philosophical allegory: the body and worldly existence are mapped as a tree. The point is not botanical description but a practical soteriology—know the constituents of experience and sever identification with them to attain deathlessness.
