brāhmaṇy uvāca | nedam alpātmanā śakyaṁ vedituṁ nākṛtātmanā | bahu cālpaṁ ca saṁkṣiptaṁ viplutaṁ ca mataṁ mama ||
Sabi ng babaeng Brahmana: “Hindi ito tunay na mauunawaan ng may munting lakas sa loob, ni ng hindi nagsasanay at nagpipigil sa sarili. Ang aking naunawaan ay sabay na marami at kaunti—pinagsiksik sa maikling anyo—kaya ang aking pag-unawa’y tila watak-watak at hindi mapanatag.”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
True understanding of subtle spiritual instruction requires an inner readiness—self-cultivation, steadiness, and disciplined mind. Without that, even a profound teaching heard in brief form remains fragmented and hard to retain.
The Brahmin woman responds to a condensed exposition she has heard, confessing her limited capacity and lack of inner refinement; she says the teaching feels both vast and yet too compressed, leaving her understanding scattered.
