Dehānta (Cyavana) and Upapatti: Kāśyapa’s Questions and the Siddha’s Account of Death, Pain, and Karmic Re-embodiment
तस्य स्थानानि दृष्टानि त्रिविधानीह शास्त्रत: । कर्मभूमिरियं भूमिर्यत्र तिष्ठन्ति जन्तव:
tasya sthānāni dṛṣṭāni trividhānīha śāstrataḥ | karmabhūmir iyaṃ bhūmir yatra tiṣṭhanti jantavaḥ ||
Ayon sa mga kasulatan, tatlong hantungan ang kinikilala para sa nilalang na may katawan. Ang mismong daigdig na ito—na tinitirhan ng mga nilalang—ang tinatawag na karmabhūmi, ang larangan ng pagkilos, kung saan ginagawa ang mga gawa at sinisimulan ang pag-ikot ng kanilang bunga ayon sa dharma.

Scripture recognizes three post-mortem destinations, and this earthly realm is specifically karmabhūmi—the place where one’s actions are undertaken and thus become the basis for future results.
