Consolation of Yudhiṣṭhira; Rites and Gifts; Return to Hastināpura
हिमवन्तं त्वया गुप्ता गमिष्याम: पितामह । बह्वाश्चर्यो हि देश: स श्रूयते द्विजसत्तम
himavantaṁ tvayā guptā gamiṣyāmaḥ pitāmaha | bahvāścaryo hi deśaḥ sa śrūyate dvijasattama ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “O Lolo (Pitāmaha), sa ilalim ng iyong pag-iingat ay maglalakbay kami patungong Himavān (Himalaya). Sapagkat ang lupain doon, O pinakadakila sa mga ‘dalawang-beses na isinilang’, ay sinasabing hitik sa maraming kababalaghan.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic value of undertaking a sacred journey under the protection and guidance of a revered elder/teacher, combining humility with disciplined curiosity toward sacred, wondrous places.
The speaker (Vaiśaṃpāyana) reports that the group intends to travel to the Himalaya, relying on the addressed ‘Grandsire’ for protection, and notes that the region is famed for extraordinary marvels.
