Vyāsa’s Boon-Offer and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Remorse in the Forest Assembly
The verse presents an ascetic ethic: when one has embraced renunciation, certain disciplined forms of voluntary death are viewed as commendable within that tradition, and attachment-driven hesitation is discouraged.
Nārada addresses Saṃjaya and urges him to leave immediately, stating that for ascetics such an end is considered praiseworthy; the instruction functions as a prompt to withdraw rather than remain entangled in the moment.
