Nārada’s Account of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Future Course

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores Vidura’s ethical stature: he is identified with Dharma itself, implying that steadfast righteousness culminates in an orderly, sanctioned departure—an end aligned with cosmic law rather than mere mortality.

Vaiśampāyana reminds the king that Vidura’s passing is already known: Vidura, portrayed as Dharma incarnate, has departed for the next world by a particular, rule-governed manner previously described in the narrative.
