अध्याय १५ (Āśramavāsika-parva): धृतराष्ट्रस्य वनवासानुज्ञायाचनम् — Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s renewed plea for consent to forest-dwelling
समाधेयास्त्वया राजंस्त्वय्यद्य कुलधूर्गता । शत्रुसूदन! मेरी बहू द्रौपदीका भी सदा प्रिय करते रहना। कुरुश्रेष्ठ. तुम भीमसेन, अर्जुन और नकुलको भी सदा संतुष्ट रखना। आजसे कुरुकुलका भार तुम्हारे ही ऊपर है
samādheyās tvayā rājan tvayy adya kuladhūrgatāḥ | śatrusūdana! mama vadhū draupadīṃ api sadā priyaṃ kuru | kuruśreṣṭha! tvaṃ bhīmasenam arjunaṃ ca nakulaṃ ca sadā santuṣṭaṃ rakṣa | adya-se kurukulasya bhāro tavaiva upari ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśaṃpāyana: “O Hari, ikaw ang mag-aayos ng lahat ng bagay mula ngayon; sa iyo na nakasalalay ang bigat ng angkan. O tagapagpuksa ng kaaway, laging mahalin at pahalagahan ang aking manugang na si Draupadī. O pinakamainam sa mga Kuru, panatilihin mong laging nasisiyahan sina Bhīmasena, Arjuna, at Nakula. Mula sa araw na ito, ang pananagutan ng lahing Kuru ay nasa iyo na lamang.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes rājadharma and kuladharma: a ruler must shoulder the dynasty’s responsibility by maintaining harmony within the family—showing respectful care to Draupadī and ensuring the principal brothers remain content—so that governance rests on ethical conduct and domestic stability.
In the Ashramavāsika context, authority and responsibility are being placed upon a king/prince: he is instructed to take charge of the Kuru house from that day, to honor Draupadī as a valued family member, and to keep Bhīma, Arjuna, and Nakula satisfied—guidance meant to prevent internal discord during a sensitive transition.
