Bhīṣma lays out practical disciplines that support dharma: non-violence through abstaining from meat, inner and outer purity through recitation of purifying texts, unwavering truthfulness, and regulated eating as a form of self-mastery.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising on righteous conduct, listing concrete vows and daily practices that cultivate purity, truth, and restraint.
