Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) |
Publicly remembering and reciting a virtuous, dharmic account is itself a meritorious act: it brings prosperity (artha) and helps one avoid calamity (durgāṇi). The verse emphasizes social transmission of ethical exemplars as spiritually and practically beneficial.
Bhishma, in his instruction on dharma, concludes or reinforces a teaching by stating the fruit (phalaśruti) of reciting this sacred account in assemblies: the reciter gains prosperity and is protected from misfortune.
