Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
एते हि प्रस्रवा: सर्वे प्रजानां पतयस्त्रय: । सर्व संतानमेतेषामिदमित्युपधारय
ete hi prasravāḥ sarve prajānāṁ patayas trayaḥ | sarvaṁ santānam eteṣām idam ity upadhāraya ||
Wika ni Vasiṣṭha: “Tunay, silang lahat ang mga bukal ng paglikha—ang tatlong Panginoon ng mga nilalang (Prajāpati). Unawain mo itong mabuti: ang lahat ng iba pa ay kanilang mga supling; ang buong daigdig na ito ay nagmula sa kanila.”
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse asserts a foundational genealogical principle: three Prajāpatis are presented as primary sources of beings, and all other creatures are understood as their descendants—encouraging the listener to recognize an ordered origin of the world and its lineages.
The sage Vasiṣṭha is instructing his listener, emphasizing a cosmological-genealogical framework in which the world’s beings are traced back to three Prajāpatis, and urging careful understanding of this doctrine.
