Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)
तपस्विनस्तपस्विन्या तेजस्विन्याउइतितेजस: । भुगुश्रेष्ठ॒ वहाँ उन सबने उन दोनोंके चरणोंमें मस्तक झुकाकर उन्हें प्रसन्न करके भगवान् रुद्रसे कहा--*पापरहित महादेव! यह जो देवी पार्ववीके साथ आपका समागम हुआ है
tapasvinās tapasvinyā tejasvinyā iti tejasāḥ | bhṛguśreṣṭha, vahāṃ te sarve tau ubhau caraṇayoḥ mastakaṃ nidhāya prasādya bhagavantaṃ rudram ūcuḥ— apāparahita mahādeva! ayaṃ yaḥ devyāḥ pārvatyā saha tava samāgamaḥ sa tapasvinaḥ tapasvinyā saha, mahātejasvinaḥ tejasvinyā saha ca saṃyogaḥ |
Sinabi ni Bhishma: Ang pinakadakila sa angkan ni Bhrigu at ang iba pa, na nagsasabing, “Isang ascetic sa isang ascetic na babae; isang maningning sa isang maningning,” ay yumukod at idinampi ang noo sa paanan ng banal na magkaparis. Nang mapalugod nila ang mga ito, nagsalita sila kay Panginoong Rudra: “O Mahadeva, na walang bahid ng kasalanan! Ang pag-iisang ito ninyo at ng diyosang Parvati ay ang nararapat na pagsasanib: austeridad sa austeridad, at dakilang liwanag-espirituwal sa dakilang liwanag-espirituwal.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse frames Śiva and Pārvatī’s union as ethically and spiritually appropriate: like joins with like—tapas with tapas and tejas with tejas—highlighting the dharmic ideal that relationships are strengthened when virtues, discipline, and spiritual aims are shared.
Sages led by a foremost Bhṛgu bow to Śiva and Pārvatī, seek their favor, and then praise Rudra, declaring that his union with Pārvatī is a harmonious meeting of two ascetics and two beings of great spiritual radiance.
