पर्युपासन्त कौन्तेय कदाचिद् वै पितामहम् । नारद: पर्वतश्चैव विश्वावसुर्हहाहुहू:
paryupāsanta kaunteya kadācid vai pitāmaham | nāradaḥ parvataś caiva viśvāvasur hahāhuhūḥ ||
Wika ni Bhishma: “O anak ni Kuntī, minsan ay naglilingkod sila sa Pitamaha (Brahmā). Naroon sina Nārada at Parvata, at ang mga Gandharva na sina Viśvāvasu, Hahā, at Huhū, na sumasamba sa kanya sa pamamagitan ng mga awiting makalangit.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse foregrounds dharmic reverence: the highest beings model humility and disciplined attendance (paryupāsanā) toward the cosmic elder, Brahmā. It suggests that devotion expressed through service and sacred arts (music) is an ethical form of worship.
Bhīṣma begins a recollection for Yudhiṣṭhira: at a certain time, sages and Gandharvas—Nārada, Parvata, Viśvāvasu, Hahā, and Huhū—are present in Brahmā’s assembly, attending upon him and praising him through divine song, setting the scene for a subsequent question or discourse.
