Go-mahātmyam: Pavitrāṇāṃ Pavitraṃ

Cows and Ghee as Supreme Purifiers

प्रजा: सृजेति चादिष्ट: पूर्व दक्ष: स्वयम्भुवा । असृजद्‌ वृत्तिमेवाग्रे प्रजानां हितकाम्यया

prajāḥ sṛjeti cādiṣṭaḥ pūrvaṃ dakṣaḥ svayambhuvā | asṛjad vṛttim evāgre prajānāṃ hitakāmyayā ||

Wika ni Bhīṣma: Sa pasimula, inutusan si Dakṣa ni Svayambhū (ang Sariling-Ipinanganak na Lumikha): “Likhain mo ang mga nilalang.” Ngunit, sa pagnanais ng kapakanan ng lahat ng may buhay, si Dakṣa ay unang nagtatag ng kanilang vṛtti—ang paraan ng ikabubuhay—bago pa man magpatuloy sa paglikha ng lahi at supling; itinuturo nitong ang pamamahala at paglikha ay dapat magsimula sa pagtitiyak ng kabuhayan at kagalingan.
