Vivāha-dharma: Kanyā-pradāna, Śulka, and Pāṇigrahaṇa-niṣṭhā (अनुशासन पर्व, अध्याय ४४)
आकार गुरुपव्न्यास्तु स विज्ञाय भृगूद्वह: । निजग्राह महातेजा योगेन बलवत् प्रभो
ākāraṃ guru-patnyās tu sa vijñāya bhṛgūdvahaḥ | nijagrāha mahātejā yogena balavat prabho ||
Sabi ni Bhīṣma: Nang makita ang anyo at kilos ng asawa ng guro, naunawaan ni Vipula—ang pinakadakila sa angkan ng Bhṛgu—ang lihim na hangarin sa kanyang loob. Kaya’t ang maringal na pantas ay pumigil sa kanya sa pamamagitan ng lakas ng yoga, kahit pa sa sapilitang paraan, upang mapigil ang di-nararapat at mapangalagaan ang dharma.
भीष्म उवाच
One should read conduct and intentions carefully and act to prevent adharma, especially where the honor of the guru’s household is involved. Spiritual power and self-mastery are portrayed as tools for restraint and protection, not indulgence.
Bhīṣma narrates that a Bhṛgu-sage, noticing the gestures and demeanor of the preceptor’s wife and discerning her intent, used yogic power to restrain and control her—forcefully if necessary—so that misconduct would not proceed.
