यथाशक्ति यथोत्साहं भार्या तामभ्यरक्षत | महामुनि देवशर्मा नारियोंके चरित्रको जानते थे; अतः वे यथाशक्ति उत्साहपूर्वक उसकी रक्षा करते थे ।। पुरन्दरं च जानीते परस्त्रीकामचारिणम्‌

yathāśakti yathotsāhaṃ bhāryā tām abhyarakṣat | mahāmunir devaśarmā nārīṇāṃ ca caritraṃ jānīte; ataḥ sa yathāśakti utsāhapūrvakaṃ tasyā rakṣāṃ karoti sma || purandaraṃ ca jānīte parastrī-kāma-cāriṇam ||

Wika ni Bhīṣma: “Sa abot ng kanyang makakaya at may ganap na paninindigan, ang dakilang muni na si Devaśarmā ay laging mapagbantay sa pag-iingat sa kanyang asawa. Palibhasa’y batid niya ang mga liko at kahinaan ng asal ng tao—lalo na sa mga bagay na may kinalaman sa kababaihan—pinrotektahan niya siya sa lahat ng lakas at taimtim na pagsisikap na kaya niya. Alam din niya na si Purandara (Indra) ay yaong gumagala na inuudyukan ng pagnanasa sa asawa ng iba.”
