Chapter 2: Sudarśana Upākhyāna — Atithi-Dharma and the Conquest of Mṛtyu
Gṛhastha-Vrata
भीष्म उवाच शुक्लानां तु सहस्रेण वाजिनां रथमुत्तमम् । युक्त प्रगृह्दा भगवान् वासवो5प्याजगाम तम्
bhīṣma uvāca | śuklānāṁ tu sahasreṇa vājīnāṁ ratham uttamam | yuktaṁ pragṛhya bhagavān vāsavo 'py ājagāma tam |
Wika ni Bhīṣma: “O Yudhiṣṭhira, pagkaraan niyon, si Vāsava (Indra) na pinagpala ay dumating upang salubungin siya, taglay ang isang maringal na karwaheng hinihila ng sanlibong puting kabayo.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores the recognition of dharmic stature: even Indra approaches with honor and magnificence, suggesting that righteousness and merit draw reverence and support from higher powers.
Bhishma narrates that Indra (Vāsava) arrives to meet the concerned person, bringing an excellent chariot harnessed with a thousand white horses, marking a moment of divine arrival and ceremonial grandeur.
