Even in the aftermath of violence, the narrative highlights the supremacy of dharma and the mysterious workings of higher order: Bhīṣma—renowned for vows and righteousness—becomes the locus of an extraordinary event that astonishes even Kṛṣṇa and the great sages, reminding the listener that moral-spiritual stature can draw forth realities beyond ordinary causation.
As the sages led by Vyāsa are present, everyone witnesses Bhīṣma’s body suddenly becoming free from the arrows that had pierced him. This unexpected transformation causes great amazement to Kṛṣṇa and the assembled sages.
