मानुषत्वमनुप्राप्तो नैने शोचितुमरहसि । 'शोभने! ये महातेजस्वी वसु थे, वसिष्ठजीके शाप-दोषसे इन्हें मनुष्य-योनिमें आना पड़ा था। अतः इनके लिये शोक नहीं करना चाहिये
mānuṣatvam anuprāpto naine śocitum arhasi | śobhane ye mahātejasvī vasavaḥ te vasiṣṭhajī-śāpa-doṣeṇa manuṣya-yoniṃ prāptāḥ | ataḥ eteṣāṃ kṛte śoko na kartavyaḥ |
Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: “Ngayong natamo na nila ang kalagayang pantao, hindi mo sila dapat ipagluksa. O marikit, ang mga maningning na Vasu na yaon ay napilitang pumasok sa pagsilang bilang tao dahil sa kapinsalaang idinulot ng sumpa ni Vasiṣṭha. Kaya’t hindi nararapat ang pagdadalamhati para sa kanila.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Grief should be tempered by understanding causality (karma and śāpa): when suffering or an unwanted condition arises from a prior fault and its consequence, lamentation is portrayed as inappropriate; one should respond with discernment and acceptance aligned with dharma.
Vaiśampāyana consoles a woman addressed as “Śobhane,” explaining that the radiant Vasus have taken human birth because of Vasiṣṭha’s curse; since their human incarnation is a consequence of that curse, she is advised not to mourn for them.
