रुद्रस्य भागं यज्ञे च विशिष्ट ते त्वकल्पयन् | भयेन त्रिदशा राजन् शरणं च प्रपेदिरे
rudrasya bhāgaṃ yajñe ca viśiṣṭa te tv akalpayan | bhayena tridaśā rājan śaraṇaṃ ca prapedire |
Wika ni Vāyu: “O Hari, dahil sa takot, ang mga diyos ay humanap ng kanlungan kay Rudra (Śaṅkara). Pagkaraan, itinalaga nila sa kanya ang isang natatangi at marangal na bahagi sa paghahandog—iniukol ang nalalabing bahagi ng sakripisyo bilang pag-aari ni Rudra.”
वायुदेव उवाच
Divine power must be acknowledged with due honor: when the gods recognize Rudra’s supremacy and seek his refuge, harmony is restored by granting him a rightful, special sacrificial share—showing that neglect of rightful honor in ritual and conduct leads to fear and disorder.
Vāyu narrates that the gods, frightened, approach Rudra/Śaṅkara for protection and then formally institute a distinct portion for him in the yajña, effectively assigning the sacrificial remainder as Rudra’s entitlement.
