Shloka 16

अदैवं दैवतं कुर्युर्दवतं चाप्पदैवतम्‌ । लोकानन्यान्‌ सृजेयुस्ते लोकपालांश्ष कोपिता:

adaivaṃ daivataṃ kuryur daivataṃ cāpy adaivatam | lokān anyān sṛjeyus te lokapālāṃś ca kopitāḥ ||

Wika ni Bhīṣma: Sa lakas ng kanilang tapa, nagagawa ng mga Brahmin na gawing banal maging ang hindi banal; at kapag sila’y nagngangalit, kaya nilang agawan ng pagka-diyos maging ang mga diyos. Sa kanilang poot, maaari silang lumikha ng iba pang mga daigdig at magtatag ng mga bagong tagapangalaga ng mga daigdig (lokapāla)—ipinapakita na ang kapangyarihang espirituwal, kapag ginagabayan ng pagpipigil, ay nagtataguyod ng kaayusan; ngunit kapag nakipag-isa sa galit, kaya nitong ibagsak ang kaayusang iyon.
