रोगार्तो व्याधियुक्तो वा पठन् पापात् प्रमुच्यते । वास्तुमध्ये तु पठत: कुले स्वस्त्ययनं भवेत्
rogārto vyādhiyukto vā paṭhan pāpāt pramucyate | vāstumadhye tu paṭhataḥ kule svastyayanaṃ bhavet ||
Wika ni Bhishma: Maging siya man ay pinahihirapan ng karamdaman o dinadapuan ng sakit, sa pagbigkas nito ay napapalaya siya sa kasalanan. At kung ito’y binibigkas sa loob ng sariling tahanan, nagiging sanhi ito ng kagalingan at pagpapala para sa buong angkan.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches the purificatory and protective power of recitation: it removes pāpa (moral demerit) and is believed to promote health and auspicious welfare, extending its benefit from the individual to the whole family when performed within the home.
Bhīṣma, in his instruction on dharma and religious observances, describes the fruit (phala) of reciting the referenced sacred names/formula: relief from sin and the arising of svastyayana—well-being and auspiciousness—for one’s household and lineage.
