Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)
जो प्रतिदिन शीघ्रतापूर्वक मर्यादाका बोध करानेवाली बुद्धिके द्वारा दुष्कर व्रतका आचरण करती है, पतिमें ही मन लगाती है और निरन्तर पतिके हित-साधनमें लगी रहती है, उसे पतिव्रत- धर्मके पालनका सुख प्राप्त होता है ।।
puṇyam etat tapaś caitat svargaś ca eṣa sanātanaḥ | yā nārī bhartṛparamā bhaved bhartṛvratā satī ||
Wika ni Maheshvara: Ito’y gawaing may dakilang gantimpala; ito mismo ay isang anyo ng pagtitika, at nagiging walang hanggang daan tungo sa langit: kapag ang babae’y itinuturing ang asawa bilang pinakamataas, matatag sa panatang katapatan, at namumuhay bilang marangal na maybahay—na walang humpay na abala sa kapakanan at paglilingkod sa asawa—natatamo niya ang ligayang dulot ng pagtupad sa dharma ng pativratā.
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
The verse teaches that steadfast devotion to one’s spouse—expressed as continual concern for the husband’s welfare and faithful observance of the pativratā-dharma—is regarded as a powerful form of tapas (austerity) and a source of puṇya (merit), leading to enduring spiritual reward (svarga).
