Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)

साध्वी स्त्री सदा अपने पतिको देवताके समान समझती है। पति और पत्नीका यह सहधर्म (साथ-साथ रहकर धर्माचरण करना) रूप धर्म परम मंगलमय है ।।

śrī-maheśvara uvāca | śuśrūṣāṃ paricāraṃ ca devatulyam prakurvatī | vaśyā bhāvena sumanāḥ suvratā sukhadarśanā | ananyacittā sumukhī bhartuḥ sā dharmacāriṇī | yā svāminaḥ kaṭhoravākye doṣadṛṣṭyā ca darśite 'pi prasannā smayamānā tiṣṭhati sā pativratā ||

Wika ni Śrī Maheśvara: Ang marangal na asawa ay itinuturing ang kanyang kabiyak na parang diyos. Ang ganitong pamumuhay na magkatuwang—mag-asawang nagsasama at sabay na nagsasagawa ng dharma—ay lubhang mapalad. Ang babaeng naglilingkod at nag-aasikaso sa asawa na parang sa isang diyos; na kusang-loob na nakatalaga sa kanya sa maamo at masunuring kalooban; na pinananatiling masaya ang isip; na tumatangan sa mararangal na panata at nag-iingat ng kaaya-ayang anyo para sa kaligayahan ng asawa; na ang puso’y hindi lumilihis sa iba; at humaharap sa asawa nang may maliwanag at magiliw na mukha—ang gayong babae ay tinatawag na tagapagsagawa ng dharma. At ang babaeng, kahit magsalita ang asawa nang mabagsik o tumingin nang mapanisi, ay patuloy na ngumingiti nang payapa—siya lamang ang tunay na tinatawag na pativratā (lubos na deboto sa asawa).
