अभोज्याश्रैव भोज्याक्ष मया प्रोक्ता यथाविधि । किमन्यदद्य कौन्तेय मत्तस्त्वं श्रोतुमिच्छसि
abhojyāś caiva bhojyāś ca mayā proktā yathāvidhi | kim anyad adya kaunteya mattas tvaṃ śrotum icchasi, kuntīnandana ||
Wika ni Bhishma: “Naipaliwanag ko na nang wasto, ayon sa nararapat na tuntunin, kung sinu-sino ang karapat-dapat paghandugan ng pagtanggap at kung kaninong pagkain ang hindi dapat tanggapin. Ngayon, O anak ni Kunti, ano pa ang nais mong marinig mula sa akin sa araw na ito?”
भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma concludes a dharma-instruction on discernment in hospitality: one should know, according to prescribed ethical and ritual standards, from whom it is proper to accept food and from whom it is improper—because accepting food implies social and moral association.
In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma is giving Yudhishthira detailed guidance on dharma while lying on the bed of arrows. Here he signals that he has finished explaining the categories of ‘fit’ and ‘unfit’ hosts and asks Yudhishthira what further instruction he wants.
