Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
को हि तत्त्वेन तद् वेद ईशस्य चरितं शुभम् । कृतवान् यानि रूपाणि देवदेव: पुरा किल | क्रीडते च तथा शर्व: प्रसीदति यथा च वै
ko hi tattvena tad veda īśasya caritaṁ śubham | kṛtavān yāni rūpāṇi devadevaḥ purā kila || krīḍate ca tathā śarvaḥ prasīdati yathā ca vai |
Wika ni Vāsudeva: Sino ang makaaalam nang ganap, sa katotohanan, ng mapalad na mga gawa at hiwaga ng Panginoon—kung anong mga anyo ang minsang tinaglay ng Diyos ng mga diyos, si Mahādeva, noong unang panahon? At sino ang makauunawa kung paano naglalaro si Śarva (Śiva) sa banal na lila, at sa anong paraan Siya nalulugod? Ipinapakita ng taludtod ang hangganan ng isip ng tao sa harap ng pagka-Diyos, at humihimok sa pagpapakumbaba at mapitagang debosyon sa halip na mapagmataas na katiyakan.
