Brāhmaṇa-pūjā and Namaskāra: Criteria of Reverence and Non-Offense (ब्राह्मणपूजा-नमस्कारविधिः)

आमिषं शीर्षतो यस्य पादतो यश्च संविशेत्‌ । तत उच्छिष्टका: सर्वे बहुच्छिद्राक्ष मानवा:

Transliteration

āmiṣaṁ śīrṣato yasya pādato yaś ca saṁviśet | tata ucchiṣṭakāḥ sarve bahucchidrakṣa mānavāḥ ||

Translation

Wika ni Bhīṣma: “Yaong mga nagbubuhat ng karne sa ibabaw ng ulo, o yaong humihiga na ang mga paa ay inilalagay sa pook na nararapat sa ulo—ang lahat ng gayong tao ay itinuturing na ‘ucchiṣṭa’ (marumi sa ritwal, gaya ng tira-tirang pagkain), at bilang mga taong may maraming ‘butas’ (mga daanang madaling kapitan ng karumihan).”
