Umā–Maheśvara Saṃvāda
मन्यते धर्म एवेति स चाधर्मेण लिप्यते | अग्नयस्तस्य कुप्यन्ति शूद्रयोनिं स गच्छति
manyate dharma eveti sa cādharmeṇa lipyate | agnayastasya kupyanti śūdrayoniṁ sa gacchati ||
Iniisip niya, ‘Ito nga ay dharma,’ subalit nadudungisan pa rin siya ng adharma. Magagalit sa kanya ang mga sagradong apoy, at dahil dito siya’y mapapasa isang kapanganakang Śūdra.
धौग्य उवाच
Mistaking an improper act for dharma does not make it righteous; such error still binds one to adharma, offends the sacred fires, and yields harmful karmic results, described here as rebirth in a Śūdra womb.
Dhaugya is instructing about a ‘confidential’ but blameworthy point concerning sacrificial propriety: when people treat mishandling of ritual elements (especially connected with the sacred fires) as acceptable duty, they incur ritual offense and moral fault, leading to negative consequences.
