ब॒हस्पतिर्वाच कृत्वा पापानि कर्माणि अधर्मवशमागत: । मनसा विपरीतेन निरयं प्रतिपद्यते
Bṛhaspatir uvāca: kṛtvā pāpāni karmāṇi adharmavaśam āgataḥ | manasā viparītena nirayaṁ pratipadyate ||
Wika ni Bṛhaspati: “Kapag ang tao ay gumagawa ng mga kasalanang gawa at napapasailalim sa kapangyarihan ng adharma, ang isip ay lumilihis sa landas na salungat sa dharma; kaya nga siya nahuhulog sa impiyerno.”
युधिछ्िर उवाच
Sinful action strengthens adharma’s hold; once the mind becomes oriented against dharma, the person naturally proceeds toward painful karmic results, described here as falling into niraya (hell).
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on conduct, Bṛhaspati speaks as a moral authority, explaining to the listener (in this dialogue context) how wrongdoing reshapes the mind and leads to severe consequences.
