Praise of the ‘Mental Tīrtha’ and the Marks of Purity
The verse presents a phalaśruti-style result: righteous conduct—especially acts of merit such as gifting or honoring sacred/virtuous causes—yields elevated, auspicious rewards symbolized by an excellent, radiant conveyance. The imagery underscores that dharmic action leads to dignity, protection, and elevated status.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the fruits of meritorious deeds. Here he describes a splendid vehicle—shining like ocean-waves and resonant with conch-sounds and jewel-garlands—as the reward one attains, continuing a sequence of promised outcomes for virtuous acts.
