Nahūṣa Episode and the Commendation of Lamp-Gifting and Household Offerings
सर्वे तस्य समुत्पन्ना देवेन्द्रस्य महात्मन: । देवलोके नृलोके च सदाचारा बुधै: स्मृता:
sarve tasya samutpannā devendrasya mahātmanaḥ | devaloke nṛloke ca sadācārā budhaiḥ smṛtāḥ ||
Sinabi ni Bhīṣma: “Ang lahat ng nagmula sa dakilang-loob na si Indra ay inaalala ng mga pantas bilang mga huwaran ng mabuting asal—sa daigdig ng mga diyos at sa daigdig ng mga tao.”
भीष्म उवाच
Virtue is validated by the judgment of the wise and is expected to be consistent across realms: those connected with the highest divine order (Indra) are held up as models of sadācāra (good conduct) for both gods and humans.
Bhīṣma, in his instruction on dharma, cites Indra’s line/associates as being traditionally remembered as virtuous, reinforcing a standard of conduct recognized in both heavenly and human spheres.
