नहुषोपाख्यानम्—दीपदान-धूप-बलीकर्म-प्रशंसा
Nahūṣa Episode and the Commendation of Lamp-Gifting and Household Offerings
ततः स परिहीणो<भूत् सुरेन्द्रो बलदर्पत: । धूपदीपोदकविधधि न यथावच्चकार ह
tataḥ sa parihīṇo 'bhūt surendro baladarpataḥ | dhūpadīpodakavidhīṁ na yathāvac cakāra ha ||
Wika ni Bhishma: “Pagkaraan nito, ang panginoon ng mga diyos ay nalugmok mula sa nararapat niyang kalagayan, lasing sa pagmamataas ng kapangyarihan. Hindi na niya isinagawa, ayon sa itinakda, ang mga ritwal ng pag-aalay ng insenso, ilawan, at tubig.” Ipinakikita ng siping ito na winawasak ng kayabangan ang disiplina sa mga banal na tungkulin, at ang pagpapabaya kahit sa payak na pang-araw-araw na handog ay tanda ng mas malalim na pagbagsak sa dharma.
