ययाति–दौहित्रसंवादः
Yayāti and the Grandsons: Discourse on Lokas, Dāna, and Satya
ययातिरुवाच गड़ायमुनयोर्म ध्ये कृत्स्नो5यं विषयस्तव । मध्ये पृथिव्यास्त्वं राजा भ्रातरो<न्त्याधिपास्तव,ययातिने कहा--(देवराज! मैंने अपने पुत्र पूरसे कहा था कि) बेटा! गंगा और यमुनाके बीचका यह सारा प्रदेश तुम्हारे अधिकारमें रहेगा। यह पृथ्वीका मध्य भाग है, इसके तुम राजा होओगे और तुम्हारे भाई सीमान्त देशोंके अधिपति होंगे
yayātir uvāca: gaṅgā-yamunayor madhye kṛtsno ’yaṃ viṣayas tava | madhye pṛthivyās tvaṃ rājā, bhrātaro ’ntyādhipās tava ||
Sumagot si Yayāti: “Ang buong lupain sa pagitan ng Gaṅgā at Yamunā ay sa iyo. Ito ang gitnang bahagi ng daigdig; ikaw ang magiging hari rito, at ang iyong mga kapatid ang mamumuno sa mga lupain sa hanggahan.”
शक्र उवाच
Legitimate rule is portrayed as structured responsibility: the central realm is entrusted to a principal king, while frontier regions are assigned to other capable rulers, reducing conflict and strengthening protection of the whole polity.
Yayāti describes (as part of his account) how he allocated sovereignty: the land between the Gaṅgā and Yamunā is granted to one heir as the central kingdom, and the other brothers are designated as rulers of border territories.
