Yayāti–Indra Dialogue and Aṣṭaka’s Inquiry

Educational Q&A

Hidden relationships and disputed lineage cannot remain concealed for long; dharma in family life demands clarity about parentage and responsibility, and truth emerges even through the innocent speech of children.

Devayānī questions the boys; in response, they point with the forefinger to King Yayāti as their father and state that Śarmiṣṭhā is their mother, bringing a concealed domestic reality into the open.
