ययाति–देवयानी संवादः
Yayāti–Devayānī Dialogue and Śukra’s Consent
भजमानान् भज स्वास्मान् कुरु नः साहामुत्तमम् । या सा विद्या निवसति ब्राह्म॒णेडमिततेजसि,“ब्रह्म! हम आपके सेवक हैं। आप हमें अपनाइये और हमारी उत्तम सहायता कीजिये। अमिततेजस्वी ब्राह्मण शुक्राचार्यके पास जो मृतसंजीवनी विद्या है, उसे शीघ्र सीखकर यहाँ ले आइये। इससे आप हम देवताओंके साथ यज्ञमें भाग प्राप्त कर सकेंगे। राजा वृषपर्वाके समीप आपको विप्रवर शुक्राचार्यका दर्शन हो सकता है”
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
bhajamānān bhaja svāsmān kuru naḥ sāhāyam uttamam |
yā sā vidyā nivasati brāhmaṇe ’mitatejasi ||
“Tanggapin mo kami na humihingi ng kanlungan; ariin mo kami at ipagkaloob ang pinakamataas na tulong. Ang kaalamang nananahan sa Brahmanang may di-masukat na ningning—pumaroon ka at kunin iyon nang madali at dalhin dito.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames knowledge as a potent, residing power (vidyā) that can restore order and rightful participation in dharmic rites; it also highlights the ethic of seeking refuge and requesting aid from a higher authority for the common good.
The gods appeal to Brahmā to accept them and help them by obtaining the special life-restoring knowledge associated with the radiant Brāhmaṇa (contextually Śukrācārya), so they may recover strength and regain their share in yajñas.
