प्रमाणकोट्यां संसुप्तं पुनर्बद्ध्वा वृकोदरम् । तोयेषु भीम॑ गंगाया: प्रक्षिप्प पुरमाव्रजत्,फिर दुर्योधनने गंगाके प्रमाणकोटि नामक तीर्थपर सोये हुए भीमसेनको बाँधकर गंगाजीके गहरे जलमें डाल दिया और स्वयं चुपचाप नगरमें लौट आया
pramāṇakoṭyāṃ saṃsuptaṃ punarbaddhvā vṛkodaram | toyeṣu bhīmaṃ gaṅgāyāḥ prakṣipya puram āvrajat ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Nang matagpuan si Vṛkodara (Bhīma) na natutulog sa Pramāṇakoṭī, muli niya itong iginapos at inihagis si Bhīma sa malalim na tubig ng Gaṅgā; saka siya tahimik na nagbalik sa lungsod.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how envy-driven deceit violates dharma: harming a rival through stealth (binding and drowning) is ethically blameworthy and contrasts with the ideal of honorable conduct, especially expected of warriors and rulers.
Bhīma is found asleep at the tīrtha called Pramāṇakoṭī; he is bound and thrown into the Gaṅgā’s waters, and the perpetrator returns quietly to the city—an episode within the Kaurava–Pāṇḍava rivalry where Bhīma is targeted through treachery.
