Shloka 5

तेन नादेन रौद्रेण नादेन च विभावसो:,कृष्णमशभ्युद्यतास्त्रं च नादं मुमुचुरुल्बणम्‌ | उन्होंने उस जलते हुए वनको और मारनेके लिये अस्त्र उठाये हुए श्रीकृष्ण तथा अर्जुनको देखा। उत्पात और आर्तनादके शब्दसे उस वनमें खड़े हुए वे सभी प्राणी संत्रस्त- से हो उठे थे। उस वनको अनेक प्रकारसे दग्ध होते देख और अस्त्र उठाये हुए श्रीकृष्णपर दृष्टि डाल भयानक आर्तनाद करने लगे

tena nādena raudreṇa nādena ca vibhāvasoḥ, kṛṣṇam abhyudyatāstraṃ ca nādaṃ mumucur ulbaṇam |

Wika ni Vaiśaṃpāyana: Nayugyog ng kakila-kilabot na ugong—at ng pagkaluskos na dagundong ng naglalagablab na apoy—ang mga nilalang sa gubat, nang makita si Kṛṣṇa na nakataas ang sandata, ay nagpakawala ng mabangis at magulong sigaw. Habang ang kakahuyan ay nasusunog sa sari-saring paraan at ang mga bayani’y nakahandang manalakay, sinakmal ng sindak ang mga nilalang doon at sila’y umiyak sa dalamhati; ang kanilang mga daing ay umalingawngaw na parang masamang pangitain sa gitna ng apoy.
